Multiquip Deepens Partnership With Vanguard®

Construction Equipment Manufacturer Expands Products Powered By Vanguard Commercial Engines

Concrete contractors demand reliable equipment to get the job done right.

That’s why Multiquip Inc., one of the largest, most diversified manufacturers and suppliers of quality industrial products and solutions, turned to Vanguard commercial engines to power even more of its walk-behind trowels product line. The most recent Vanguard-powered Multiquip products include the CA5BC 24” and CA5BM 24” edging walk-behind trowels.

Walk-behind trowels are utilized in concrete finishing jobs and require a powerful engine application that prioritizes controllability and reliability. Having previously partnered together on the standard J36B65 36’’ walk-behind trowel, Multiquip knew that Vanguard engines were up to the task.

“Ultimately, we came back to Vanguard because of its robust power, name recognition and reliability,” said Jordan Carmean, designer at Multiquip.

Powered by the 5.0 HP* Vanguard 160 single-cylinder engine, the CA5BC and CA5BM edging walk-behind trowels can easily maneuver around obstacles and are great for finishing tight spaces. The CA5BC offers operators a centrifugal clutch option while the CA5BM provides a manual clutch option. The walk-behind trowels’ 4-blade design delivers a 70-130 RPM blade speed with a rotating guard ring that allows finishing tight to the wall without concern of marking or marring.

The J36B65 36’’ standard walk-behind trowel is powered by the 6.5 HP* Vanguard 200 single-cylinder engine. The rugged design of the engine is the perfect pair for the reliable trowel product engineered for residential and general construction work.

Optimally balanced for smooth finishing, the 4-blade J36B65 delivers a 60-115 RPM blade speed. The trowel’s spider and thrust collar assembly design simplifies routine maintenance and its gearbox’s large oil capacity helps ensure years of trouble-free performance.

Multiquip trusts Vanguard single-cylinder engines because they offer consistently easy starts and run quieter and smoother than competitor products. Cutting edge features like Integrated Cyclonic Air Filtration and TransportGuard® technology mean users will have added equipment protection, spend less time doing maintenance and more time on the job.

Concrete work is particularly dusty, and the Integrated Cyclonic Air Filtration System helps the engine perform consistently even under harsh conditions. The system doubles the equipment’s air filter replacement intervals to 600 hours.

TransportGuard integrates a single action fuel and ignition shut-off switch. The 3-in-1 control lever prevents the mixing of fuel and oil during transport. This means fewer unscheduled oil changes and equipment that is ready to rent when customers need it, minimizing downtime and enhancing ROI. The engine’s carburetor is also optimized to ensure reliable starting and smooth running operation over a wide range of loads.

With the addition of the three walk-behind trowel products, Vanguard is excited to continue its partnership with Multiquip as the company solidifies its role as a power solutions provider to OEMs around the world.

“We are excited to deepen our partnership with Multiquip and look forward to continuing to provide them with optimal application solutions that ensure their customers have the power and reliability they need on challenging job sites,” Amy West, marketing manager for Briggs & Stratton, said. “With a superior dealer network and industry-leading commercial limited warranty, OEMs like Multiquip can feel confident in their choice to be powered by Vanguard.”
