Vanguard® Battery Pack Powers Scag’s First Electric Zero Turn Riding Mower
Vanguard® is excited to share that the Vanguard 5kWh* Commercial Lithium-Ion Battery Pack is powering the new Scag Power Equipment (Scag) EVZ Electric Zero Turn Riding Mower. Vanguard and Scag have worked closely together to develop innovative landscape equipment and are proud to bring this battery solution to the turf market.
With the 5kWh* Commercial Battery Pack from Vanguard, the EVZ offers operators a quiet, smooth ride with zero-emissions, making it an ideal machine for homeowner use as well as commercial use in noise-sensitive locations such as schools, parks and hospitals. The mower can cover up to 5 acres per charge and can reach speeds of up to 7 mph forward and 4 mph in reverse. The Scag 52’’ Hero™ Cutter Deck features dual-plate construction to deliver a clean, precise cut and solid performance over the life of the machine.
Vanguard Commercial Battery Packs are engineered to meet the demanding needs of commercial turf applications. The battery pack’s roll cage design delivers maximum protection and is tested to withstand harsh conditions including extreme temperatures, vibration and excessive moisture and dirt. The pack’s integrated Battery Management System constantly monitors it’s voltage and temperature to help ensure safe and efficient operations.

Backed by an industry-leading three-year limited commercial warranty, the battery pack provides unmatched power, reduced maintenance and lower total cost of ownership to end users. The mower can be easily charged by simply plugging the Vanguard 1050W charger that comes standard with each mower into a 110V power supply (outlet).
Built with operator comfort in mind, the EVZ features large drive tires providing better traction, an adjustable cushioned seat, padded ergonomic steering levers, and an easily accessible instrument panel with a full-featured display screen showing battery charge, hours of run time, and system diagnostics. The EVZ also features a Smartec® by Hydro-Gear drive system, delivering smooth drive power and incredible maneuverability.
