Hustler Super 104, and Super Z HyperDrive® Commercial Mower Models Now Exclusively Powered by Vanguard BIG BLOCK® Engines

MILWAUKEE (September 18, 2015) — Hustler Super 104 and Super Z HyperDrive industrial mower models are now exclusively powered by Vanguard® air-cooled V-Twin BIG BLOCK® engines from Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power.

"The outstanding reputation of Vanguard in the commercial and industrial markets, make this engine a perfect fit for our industry leading machines including the Super Z HyperDrive and Super 104," said Brad Unruh, Excel Director of Product Strategy. "We are also excited to announce an exclusive Hustler 5 year engine warranty, making this change an even greater choice for our valued customers."

The Hustler Super 104 is a wide-area mower with the maneuverability of a zero-turn. Features include a 104-inch cutting width, HyperDrive System, Grammer premium suspension seat (standard), simple, service friendly design, hydraulic wing deck lift, and 80-inch transport width.

The Hustler Super Z HyperDrive is designed with the industry leading HyperDrive® System and VX4® deck technology. New enhanced features include 26-inch tires, Grammer premium suspension seat and a faster ground speed of 16 mph.

Both models will offer customers a choice of choice of Vanguard carbureted or EFI BIG BLOCK power.

Vanguard BIG BLOCK engines — now available with Vanguard EFI technology — range from 28 to 37 horsepower¹ and are designed to provide power for commercial mowers with 54-inch cutting decks and larger. The 36HP carburetor and 37HP EFI models will power the Hustler Z HyperDrive and the Super 104.

“Since its inception in 2005, the Vanguard air-cooled V-Twin BIG BLOCK engine line continues to receive notoriety for setting a new standard of power and durability for landscape contractors,” said Jim Cross, marketing manager for Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power. “The engine is a workhorse. And that ‘can-do’ attitude of the BIG BLOCK now equipped with Vanguard EFI technology just widens the gap between it and other power sources on the market.”
