WACKER NEUSON ADDS BRIGGS & STRATTON ENGINES FOR ITS BPS VIBRATORY PLATE COMPACTORS

Freienbach Switzerland, 25th April 2022 – Briggs & Stratton is proud to announce that Wacker Neuson, a global market leading manufacturer of compaction equipment, has added Briggs & Stratton horizontal shaft engines for its BPS vibratory plate compactor series. The first Wacker Neuson BPS unit powered by the Briggs & Stratton XR 3,5 - 2,6 Gross kW was introduced on the Briggs’ stand at the Executive Hire Show in the UK in February 2022, where it generated great interest. A second order will be delivered shortly.

Briggs & Stratton’s general-purpose horizontal shaft engines deliver the durability Wacker Neuson and its customers demand, and are readily available to Wacker Neuson. The BPS-series (10–20 kN) will be powered by the XR 3,5 - 2,6 Gross kW and the XR 5,0 - 3,7 Gross kW (previously called XR550 and XR750) engines. Wacker Neuson’s BPS (petrol-powered) single-direction vibratory plate compactors are designed for a variety of soil and asphalt compaction applications.

Reliable engines for demanding work environments

The Briggs & Stratton XR 3,5 - 2,6 Gross kW and the XR 5,0 - 3,7 Gross kW engines are designed for frequent use in demanding work environments. The XR 3,5 - 2,6 Gross kW is a 127cc engine delivering 7,41 Nm of Gross Torque*, while the XR 5,0 - 3,7 Gross kW has a 163cc displacement with 10,17 Nm of Gross Torque*.

Both engines boast features crucial to rental companies and end users alike. To name a few: OHV technology, which optimizes performance and delivers longer engine life and improved fuel economy; the Magnetron® Electronic Ignition System, which ensures maintenance-free, easy starting; and a mechanical governor, which controls the engine speed to deliver more usable power under heavy usage. The engines come standard with a 2-year warranty.

“We’re delighted for the opportunity to prove the value of our utility engines to equipment market leaders such as Wacker Neuson. With easy starting, consistent performance, and durability, they ensure equipment manufacturers can deliver the quality customers want, when it matters most,” said Patrick Limberg, Director Sales Commercial Engines EMEA. “We look forward to building a long-term relationship with Wacker Neuson and to supporting their growth in the competitive compaction market.”
