BRIGGS & STRATTON PARTNERS WITH AS LABURNA TO DEVELOP MARINE SYSTEMS

25th May 2023 – Engine and power solutions specialist Briggs & Stratton® has partnered with AS Labruna, an Italian company specialising in three different business units – marine, power and loading. AS Labruna will be integrating Briggs & Stratton Vanguard® batteries into its marine propulsion systems and marine generators to guarantee high performance with zero impact in line with its E-Vision business unit.

The partnership will see AS Labruna collaborate with Briggs & Stratton to utilise their Vanguard lithium-ion commercial batteries, specifically the Fi7kWh fixed battery pack, which will be used on pleasure and professional boats of up to 15 meters. AS Labruna’s E-vision embraces marine engines that can guarantee high performance with zero environmental impact. This includes the Full Electric line, featuring 100% electric propulsion, the Hybrid Systems, for hybrid sailing both diesel and electric, and Fuel Cells offering hydrogen and methanol combustion.

“This significant investment further cements our commitment to bringing the most robust, reliable battery packs to market. The addition of automation to our manufacturing processes will help to streamline and strengthen our production capacity but also further ensure the safety of those working on the assembly line,” said Chris Davison, Marketing Director — Electrification at Briggs & Stratton. “With the addition of strategic automation enhancements, the state-of-the-art Tucker facility will elevate the level of service, support and expertise we are able to provide to our OEM stakeholders as they seek to integrate battery power into their equipment.”

The Vanguard lithium-ion battery portfolio ranges from 3.5kWh to 10kWh for fixed batteries. Briggs & Stratton is also starting the production of its new Vanguard Commercial 48V Si1.5kWh swappable battery packs later this summer. The Vanguard Fi7kWh battery delivers more power in a smaller package and can be scaled up in parallel with additional Vanguard battery packs to meet the power needs of larger equipment. All Vanguard batteries are built for tough environments and deliver the reliable and powerful performance that OEMs have come to expect. “Briggs & Stratton’s Vanguard batteries are ideally suited to deliver the high performance that we require for our marine propulsion systems and generators, while their robust built as well as the IP66 and pressure washer protection easily withstand the rough environment our products are facing every day,” says Massimo Labruna, CEO of AS Labruna.

AS Labruna is one of the most important system integrators in the electrification sector and has installed more than 5000 kWe on boats over the last three years. Working alongside Briggs & Stratton will enable the company to incorporate batteries into its marine systems moving forward, to further develop and evolve the product line.

Massimo Labruna, CEO at AS Labruna commented: “We are delighted to announce our partnership with Briggs & Stratton as we navigate towards a greener future through further development of our E-Vision business unit. This partnership will enable us to increase performance and environmental respect for the seas through solution-based products that support our business aims. We look forward to integrating their batteries that will lead to no harmful impact in our seas and where sustainability and mobility coexist in balance in the ecosystem.”

Ladislav Poledna, Business Development Manager Electrification / Rental EMEA at Briggs & Stratton added: “Working with AS Labruna allows us to further our growth within the marine market, helping to provide reliable, high performing and zero environmental impact solutions. AS Labruna are an ideal partner for us as we work to support OEMs around the world in meeting their electrification goals.”
