Vanguard® Continues to Partner With Propane Power Systems, LLC to Give OEM Customers an Alternative Fuel Option

MILWAUKEE (April 5, 2021) – Vanguard is proud to be one of the few companies to offer customers the option to convert their engines to function with propane.

To do this, Briggs & Stratton has partnered with Propane Power Systems, LLC who developed EPA and CARB-certified conversion kits for select Vanguard and Briggs & Stratton® Commercial Series engines. The OEM-approved propane conversion kit can be purchased from Propane Power Systems allowing OEM customers or dealers to easily convert Vanguard powered equipment from gasoline to propane fuel.

Using the propane conversion kit provides benefits to Vanguard engine users. Those benefits include:

  • no fuel issues from prolonged storage
  • no fuel spillage
  • no fuel shrinkage
  • low-carbon alternative

This fuel flexibility has allowed product users to modify their equipment to work best for them in their applications and unique needs. Vanguard has worked with Propane Power Systems for many years to benefit customers, and they continue to be a valued partner.

Propane Power Systems was started by Jim Coker, who has a vast background working with propane and combustion engines. Coker saw opportunities available using propane for small engine needs, since compared to gasoline, propane was more cost-effective and was better for fuel containment. Around 2015, Coker joined up with R&R Products to start Propane Power Systems where they worked to introduce the first propane golf and turf equipment.

The partnership between Briggs & Statton and Propane Power Systems has allowed manufacturers to have the best propane small engine for a number of applications.

As well, Propane Power Systems was essential in the work with PERC (Propane Education Research Council) to fund the certification of Briggs & Stratton/Vanguard propane engines.
