Vanguard lithium-ion battery systems are designed to deliver dependable power from day one, and that commitment doesn’t end when the workday does. Every Vanguard battery is built not only for performance but also for a responsible lifecycle.
That’s why Vanguard has established an End-of-Life (EOL) & Recycling Program, ensuring every commercial lithium-ion battery is reused or recycled responsibly.
End-of-life battery management is a crucial part of protecting our environment and preserving valuable materials. Lithium-ion batteries contain components that can be repurposed and reused when handled properly.
Through responsible recycling, Vanguard helps to:
Managing this process requires specialized expertise, and Vanguard’s program is designed to make it simple for both dealers and operators.
Handling commercial lithium-ion batteries at their end-of-life can be complex and costly. Vanguard removes that complexity with a seamless battery take-back program designed to make the process effortless.
When a battery reaches the end of its service life (or falls under warranty coverage), Vanguard coordinates every step of its return. From safe shipping logistics to final inspection, the process is built to minimize effort for dealers and maximize environmental responsibility.
Once a returned battery arrives at Vanguard’s U.S. facility, it goes through a multi-stage evaluation process:
1. Inspection for Second-Life Applications
Every returned battery is first inspected to see if it can be repurposed for a second-life application. This extends its useful life in a less demanding environment, such as in energy storage systems, before it’s ever recycled.
2. Disassembly and Material Recovery
If a second life isn’t possible, the battery enters the disassembly and recycling phase. Vanguard’s battery packs are designed for easy recyclability featuring modular designs and die-cast aluminum housings. Recovered cells are sent to specialized recycling partners who extract valuable elements. This process closes the recycling loop and supports a truly circular economy.
Vanguard’s program provides significant advantages by combining convenience with environmental accountability.
